Info
Installation:
- Install Sphere 1.5 frameworks to
/Library/Frameworksor~/Library/Frameworks - Download and run editor using the link above
This was created using a copy of the Sphere 1.5 core and editor source code. I've tested this on Mac OS X 10.4 PPC and Intel.
Features:
- Open/save maps, create new maps using tileset files
- Inspector for map, scripts, tiles, layers, and entities
- Layers drawer
- "Paint" and "fill" tiles, and "eyedropper" tool
Bugs:
- Can crash randomly when switching between multiple open maps
- Some selections of tiles, layers, etc., aren't preserved when switching maps
- Not a lot of validation is done in the inspector yet
Major features not yet implemented:
- Need to get some proper documentation, license notices, etc. Will be GPL of course.
- Create maps/layers from images
- Tileset import/export and adding/removing tiles
- Editing tiles in place. The tile inspector has an "Edit Externally" button. I want this to open the tile in an image editor (which will be an editable preference), and when you save changes in the editor, the changes will be applied to the map.
- Point-and-click placement/editing of zones, obstructions, entities
- User preferences
- etc.
I also want to build a Spriteset editor, etc. I'm planning on making these separate applications.
