Gameplay

The aim of the game is to guide Jesus over all of the golden crosses in the level, in order to advance to the next.

Pitfalls

A number of obstacles will cause the player to lose a chance:

  • eggs
  • bushes
  • water
  • holes

These, walkable grass and the crosses are the constituents of all levels.

The hazards can be avoided through a combination of careful planning, quick thinking and occasionally quick reflexes.

Guiding Jesus

Jesus always moves either up, down, left or right. He travels in a straight line at all times, and does not stop. Without guidance, He will usually run into a pitfall, or at the very least not collect all of the crosses.

The player must guide Jesus through the level and the crosses. A number of game elements can be placed on the level in order to do this:

  • Arrows will change the direction that Jesus walks in when he steps on them.
  • Angled walls will reflect the direction that Jesus walks in when he collides with it. The new direction depends on which way He was walking when he encounters the wall.
  • Horizontal planks can be placed over water and holes, so that Jesus may walk over them. Jesus can only walk horizontally over such planks. They do not necessarily need to be placed near grass.
  • Vertical planks follow the exact same rules as horizontal planks, but allow Jesus to walk vertically along them.

The player only has a limited amount of each element, and oftentimes many of the elements are not available at all during a level. All levels are able to be completed with the elements given.

Levels

There are a total of twenty levels in the game, each progressively harder than the last. The first few levels serve to introduce gameplay elements and familiarise the player with them. The later levels challenge the player's mind to find a path through all of the crosses.

Each level is populated by pitfalls and crosses. When the player collects all of the crosses, they will progress to the next level. Progress is saved automatically.

At the start of each level, the game will be paused. This is a good opportunity for the player to plan ahead. The player may not lay down any guiding elements while the game is paused this way.

Controls

  • Left click - Lay down a guiding element.
  • Right click - Cycle through available guiding elements.
  • Cursor keys - Stop the camera following Jesus, and move the camera manually. At the title screen, left and right will change the starting level, over the levels that have already been completed plus the next uncompleted level.
  • J - Make the camera follow Jesus.
  • W, A, S, D - Choose the corresponding directional arrow guiding element if available.
  • 1, 2 - Choose the corresponding reflecting wall ('/' and '\' respectively) if available.
  • 3, 4 - Choose the vertical or horizontal plank respectively if available.
  • Escape - Exits the game.

Player Comments

  • For something so simple, it's surprisingly challenging. The tile colours chosen are borderline eye-bleeding, but otherwise, a good game for those who like noodle-scratchers. --Tunginobi 06:40, 7 July 2006 (PDT)
